5 things

That I’m loving about life as an intern so far:

1) The fact that interns will no longer take 30-hour call starting July 1 (I could not be happier about this – it’s really hard to function and think and be compassionate after being awake for 30 hours).

2) The pull-up bar in the door to my kitchen (goal = be able to do 1 real pull-up ASAP)

3)   My little herb garden

4)  Early morning yoga in the kitchen (with coffee, music, and a space heater)

5)   Eating good food.

The hospital cafeteria is pretty vegan-friendly:

And we get free coconut water... how can I complain?!

My apartment is stocked with fruits and veggies:

My essentials = mangoes, avocadoes, plantains

I’ve been trying to pack food and snacks for long call days:

Overdid it a bit! Glad to have midnight snacks though.

And then trying to eat more greens and veggies at home:

(Yum fried plantains)

(Love collard greens)

Those 30 hour work periods without sleep are dangerous and insane! I’m so glad they are a thing of the past. The doctor who invented them should have to do a dozen pull ups while gargling coconut water and balancing an avocado on his head!

your blog always makes me want to eat more fruit and veggies, but this entry especially! Any tips on how to keep an indoor basil plant/herb garden alive?

I’m cheers-ing a coconut water in your direction to the end of 30-hour shifts for you guys…you’re a rock star!

Hi Em!

I just put mine in the windowsill and water it every day… and it’s growing kind of out of control!

I also put in some broken up egg shells in the soil because someone told me once that the extra calcium is good for plants…?!
