Some things I’m thinking about

by Christina on July 16, 2011

“To do nothing is sometimes a good remedy.” ~Hippocrates

“A little starvation can really do more for the average sick man than can the best of medicines and the best of doctors. I do not mean a restricted diet: I mean total abstinence from food.” ~Mark Twain

“So, when a doctor feels himself lost or astray over some difficult problem, there’s just one thing for him to do – to betake himself to a library, a place whence knowledge radiates, there to get a fresh start.” ~Harvey Cushing, MD (1928)

Went to a yin yoga class last night in the mission: exactly what I needed. Today: sleep, more yoga, pull-ups, friend coffee/phone dates, sister time, and lots of reading. Perfect day.

my sad attempt at a pull up (CrossFit SF - I'm coming!)

Hi Christina! I came across your blog because I know your dad (he was one of my favorite professors at AU), and I saw that you’re going to be joining San Francisco CrossFit, how great! I drop in there occasionally when I’m down in SF for business and they are a fantastic group of people, I hope you enjoy it! I haven’t found a yoga studio down there yet for when I’m traveling and I’m wondering if you have any recommendations, I’m very new to yoga (started bikram about a month ago) and still trying to figure out what is best for me, I’m looking into yoga mainly to gain better flexibility. Keep enjoying the Bay Area, it’s my second home and such a wonderful city!

Hi Meg!

I’m so happy to hear you’ve been to the SF crossfit! which one do you go to? I see that there are a few around.. I’m going to one in SOMA next weekend. I’ve only been able to try out a few yoga studios around, but I really like Yoga Tree (on Valencia) and Mission Ashtanga in the mission (there’s also a bikram studio in the same building).
