Work you love

by Christina on December 23, 2012

I’m home for my first vacation of R2 year! I feel like a new person after a few days of sleep, yoga, family time, and healthy food.

Christmas-time always makes me reflect on where I am in relation to where I want to be. There’s something about being home with family and seeing high school friends that gets me thinking. What path have I been on? How was I feeling this time last year? Am I where I wanted to be? What will my life look like a year from now? What resolutions do I want to make for the coming year?

This year I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about what my life might look like after residency, and trying to reflect on the passion and vision that drove me to medical school 8 years ago.

This is a fantastic Ted talk by Scott Dinsmore (Live Your Legend) that helped get me started:

  1. Become a self expert: What do you wake up loving to do? What do you love? What do you hate? Who inspires you? What about them inspires you?
  2. Do the impossible. Push your limits.
  3. Surround yourself with passionate people. “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” ~Jim Rohn

He asks: What is the work you can’t NOT do?

That’s a wonderful talk, full of wisdom, passion, and sound advice, and delivered beautifully, too.

HI Christina,
I hope you’re doing well. I loved this Ted talk. Fantastic. I wanted to introduce you to my friend (fellow Ashtangi, pharmacist) Lauren Grantz. Here is a link to her blog. I think you will find it right up your alley.
