What we’re eating: Eden foods

by Christina on October 6, 2016

We were lucky to get to try some Eden treats! First of all, I love this company. They are the oldest organic and macrobiotic food company in the country.

“Eden Foods began in Ann Arbor in the late 1960s with friends sourcing natural food. Youth motivated by a study of a worldwide phenomenon centered upon macrobiotics: eating a diet of whole grain and seasonal local plant foods that are not nutrient depleted and without toxic chemical adulteration.”

This sample box actually introduced 3 really important additions to our family diet that now feel essential to it:

  1. Muesli: We had been making plain oatmeal with added fruit, but our 2 year old loves this so much more and it’s simpler to make! Unprompted he said “I like this oatmeal, mommy!” Just cook it in boiling water for a few minutes and it’s already flavored deliciously.
  2. Nut, seed, and berry snacks: These Eden “pocket” snacks are perfect for me for work, and also for my son’s snacks. I wish I had these during residency! I’m buying their pocket pumpkin seeds next.
  3. Ancient grains: Have you heard of Kamut? I hadn’t until the Kamut pasta arrived in this box. One serving has 10 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiberimg_2414

One of the best things about Eden is they have online ordering — essential for busy families.

We’ve already made our purchase for the next shipment… it includes: instant organic Miso, cans of chili, a big box of pumpkin seed pocket snacks, and more pasta including this Alphabet pasta!

I just wish they had baby food!!

Thank you, Eden foods!
